We have some possible great news from our friends BlogMickey.com. According to sources, Disneyland is targeting a reopening date of Monday, September 28th. Disneyland has been closed since mid-march due to the COVID 19 pandemic.  They were at one point going to reopen on July 17th just in time for Disneyland’s 65th anniversary. But without a plan from the state of California to reopen there was no make it work for that date.

Blog Mickey learned that there were internal conversations and that Disneyland was targeting the 28th opening date after Orange County was removed from the COVID watch list. That changed on Friday when the government implemented a new watch list program and now Orange County is back on the list. The new system was implemented to give the state a bit more power over the counties to prevent another premature reopening of certain business types, Governor  Newsom said.

Disney is said to be pressing forward and still targeting the 28th. Newsom said that the state is “actively” working with Disneyland and other theme parks in what the governor is calling a “very dynamic conversation” He was planning on meeting with theme parks on Friday afternoon. Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro said that Disneyland is “ready to reopen” as soon as the state of California releases guidelines and sets a date for the theme parks to reopen. Keep in mind this all a rumor and nothing has been stated officially by Disney.

Stay Tuned…
